Tony Mercer began studying piano at the age of six, and studied with private teachers Rick Setzer, Barbara Friedman, and Karen DeLong before studying under the direction of Dr. Robert MacDonald at Florida Southern College. While earning his degree in piano performance, he accompanied the choirs at Florida Southern College and became a collaborative pianist and assistant musical director for the Department of Music at Southeastern University. He is currently the Director of Music at Presbyterian Church in the Highlands, and has been playing and singing in church since he was eight. His most memorable, musical opportunities are being the principal keyboardist for the first community production of CATS in Florida at Theatre Winter Haven, and working at Opera Tampa for six seasons accompanying the opera chorus, while also playing the organ, harpsichord, and celesta in the orchestra under the direction of Maestro Anton Coppola. After leaving SEU, Tony went on to teach piano and voice privately at a local school for almost five years, and has now started his own music studio called B Natural Music. Tony works with students aged 6+, and loves to personalize lessons to each student - meeting them where they are and helping them gain the knowledge and tools to make incremental progress towards their musical goals.
